Can Luck and Fortune Be Stolen?

Slavs believed that the goddess Makosh wove the threads of fate, determining who would receive Dolia (a fortunate destiny) and who would be given Nedolia (a life full of trials). Makosh did not work alone—she was aided by the spinners of fate: Dolia granted happiness and success, while Nedolia brought suffering and obstacles.

Makosh favors those who respect labor, live honestly, and honor ancestral traditions.

To attract her blessing, you can:

  • Express gratitude to her on Fridays (her sacred day) and ask for prosperity.

  • Engage in crafts like weaving, sewing, or knitting—any handiwork with threads strengthens your connection to Makosh.

  • Leave clean water and small offerings at home as a sign of appreciation.

However, some actions may anger Makosh:

  • Leading a lazy life and neglecting personal growth.

  • Breaking promises made to ancestors or deities.

  • Envy and gossip—these attract Nedolia instead of Dolia.

Today, there are ways to determine whether you were “born under a lucky star” or if your fate is more difficult. This can be seen in your natal chart and through karmic diagnostics using Tarot and oracle readings.

It is not uncommon for someone to be born lucky, their natal chart promising a prosperous life, with everything going smoothly—until one day, suddenly, their fortune seems to disappear. Their business stagnates, love life crumbles, and money slips through their fingers. If this sounds familiar, it’s worth consulting an astrologer or Tarot reader to uncover what has happened and how to restore your luck. Meanwhile, let’s explore the most common ways in which your happiness and success can be stolen.

Reasons for Misfortune

Often, people themselves are the cause of their own misfortunes, failing to consider the consequences of their actions. You may notice these mistakes in others but struggle to recognize them in yourself. It’s painful to admit that you ignored warning signs, overestimated your own or others' abilities, or blindly followed toxic positivity, thinking, "Don’t jinx it! Just stay optimistic!"

Toxic optimism—ignoring reality and dismissing negative possibilities—is one of the main reasons people find themselves in unfortunate situations. Some refuse to objectively assess their circumstances, reject wise advice, and live in illusions. Visualization and affirmations can work, and magic follows the laws of quantum physics, but not in the way many believe. However, that’s a discussion for another article.

Now, let’s move on to the cases where your luck and fortune are truly stolen or drained.

Sometimes, a new person enters a family or workplace, and suddenly everything goes wrong. Relationships deteriorate, moods drop, plans collapse, and people start avoiding each other—or worse, get entangled in conflicts.

People Who Drain Your Luck

Some individuals unknowingly carry destructive energy—so-called energy vampires. Wherever they go, problems seem to follow. However, they’re not necessarily the ones starting arguments or conflicts. These energy drainers can appear friendly, kind, or even pitiful. Most often, they are people who feel they deserve more but blame circumstances or others for their failures.

They tend to be overly inquisitive, constantly seeking to know everything about your life under the guise of concern and friendliness. Wherever they go, things start breaking, plans fall apart, and the atmosphere becomes tense. They drain you by constantly complaining, demanding your time and attention. After interacting with such a person, you may feel drained, demotivated, or even guilty.

If your life took a downturn after someone new entered your circle, think back—did things start going wrong after meeting them?

Those Who Consciously Steal Luck

Some people intentionally steal others’ fortune using magic or innate energy abilities. They do this through binding spells, cursed objects, or by synchronizing with your energy to siphon your luck. This requires either a natural gift or extensive training. How can you recognize such individuals?

  • They give suspicious gifts. Dolls, jewelry, or even books can carry negative energy and steal your good fortune.

  • They are overly curious about your life. They mask their interest as concern but are actually gathering important details about your travels, plans, and successes.

  • They start copying you. They mimic your clothing, mannerisms, and even thought patterns—this allows them to align with your energy and absorb your luck.

  • They excessively praise you. They fixate on your belongings, appearance, or talents. Pay attention if someone repeatedly praises your children—this could be a form of an evil eye.

How to Protect Yourself

To safeguard your happiness, follow these simple guidelines:

  • Avoid lending money to envious people. If someone makes you uncomfortable, don’t lend them money—you might unintentionally transfer your luck along with it.

  • Guard your personal belongings. Even with close friends, be mindful of sharing personal items, as they carry your energy.

  • Be cautious with gifts. Avoid accepting items “just because” from unfamiliar people—some gifts are meant to transfer their problems onto you.

  • Pregnant women should not allow others to touch their belly. Energy is transferred through touch, and not always in a positive way.

  • Limit overnight guests. If someone regularly stays overnight in your home, they may (consciously or not) drain your energy.

  • Don’t pick up objects from the street. Found jewelry, wallets, or mirrors often carry negative energy and curses.

Have You Experienced This?

If you or your loved ones have encountered such situations, share your experiences—how did it happen, and what other ways have you seen luck being stolen?

For those who feel they have been cursed or had their fortune stolen, I recommend seeking help as soon as possible before it’s too late to reclaim what is rightfully yours.
